아그네스는 남편 아틀리가 외도 했다며 집에서 쫓아내고, 딸 아사를 못 보게 한다.
할 수 없이 부모님 집으로 돌아온 아틀리는 부모의 집 뒤뜰에 있는 커다란 나무가 이웃집에 그림자를 드리운다는 이유로 말 다툼을 벌인다.
이후 두 집안의 물건이 훼손되고 자동차 바퀴가 펑크 나는가 하면 고양이가 사라지는 등 분쟁은 점점 악화된다. 결국 CCTV까지 설치되고 옆집 부부가 전기 톱을 갖고 있다는 소문까지 도는데……
