천하제일의 주검사 몽야자는 명검 함광을 주조한 이유로 조정의 간신 조감으로부터 멸족지화를 당해 몽양을 지키기 위해 목숨을 바치고 완성되지 못한 승영검을 남겼다. 20년 후 성인이 된 몽양은 아버지의 원수를 갚으려 하였으나 함광검을 이겨낼 수 있는 승영검이좀처럼 만들어지지 못했다. 황제가 위독하고 우연과 운명 끝에 몽양은 태자를 궁으로 모셔 왕위를 계승하게 하는 임무를 받게 되었다. 몽부멸족의 사실을 조사하고 복수하기 위해 몽양은 임무를 맡았으나 길에서 다시 목숨을 잃게 되는 화에 닥치게 되는데…
