빈센트는 교통사고를 당한다. 죽음을 바로 눈앞에서 겪었던 그는 자신의 삶을 되돌아본다. 건축가인 빈센트는 사업 파트너이기도 한 아내 샐리와 16년을 살았다. 빈센트는 가정보다 일을 중요시하는 아내에게 불만이 있었다. 그러던 중 빈센트는 잡지사 기자 올리비아를 만나면서 그녀를 향한 열정에 결혼 생활은 위기에 빠진다. 올리비아에게 헤어지자는 편지를 보냈지만, 샐리와 헤어지고 올리비아를 선택하려던 빈센트는 사고를 당함으로 자신의 마음을 제대로 전할 수 없게 된다. (최성진)
