1925년 사하라 사막을 배경으로 젊은이들이 고대 이집트의 보석을 찾아나섰다 우연히 기원전 1719년에 봉인된 미라를 깨운다. 이들은 미이라의 저주로부터 인류를 구하기 위해 미라를 상대로 악전고투를 벌인다. 고대 이집트, 파라오 세티 1세의 정부 앙크수나문이 승정원의 이모텝과 사랑에 빠진다. 연인들은 파라오를 살해하고, 근위대의 추적을 받자 여자는 이모텝을 구하기 위해 자결한다.
